Headcorn Aerodrome was formerly RAF Lashenden in WW2 and is now the last surviving former RAF base with all grass runway and an original RAF 'Scramble' dispersal hut in Kent. In 1943 and 1944 the aerodrome became an ALG - Advanced Landing ground in preparation for the Normandy invasion - filled with RAF & RCAF Spitfires 1943, then USAAF P-51 Mustangs and P-47 Thunderbolts 1944.
